Classes
In the context of classes and abilities, a "class" is a categorization that designates the group or individual to a specific category based on their abilities or nexu type. Classes serve as a way to organize and classify ability users according to the unique affinities they possess. Individuals are assigned to particular classes based on the type of nexu they can wield or the elemental affinity they possess. For example, some may belong to the class of "elemental," with the ability to manipulate and control the elements such as fire, water, air, and earth. Others might be classified as "warlocks and witches," mastering the art of creating mesmerizing illusions and manipulating perceptions.
All abilities can be traced back to one of the seven natural elements of the world. They originate from either water, earth, fire, air, nature, electricity, or even that of shadow. Fae can pass their abilities on to their offspring if the child is lucky enough to be born with it. This is the second most common way for an individual to receive the potential for nexu.
Newly turned fae do not possess nexu, and even those born fae may not have gained his or her parent's abilities. However, an individual could receive the gift of nexum through blood binding. Blood binding is when a humanoid makes a blood oath with another. This is in order for one individual to receive the same type of magic as another. The individual seeking abilities is referred to as a tumulus. Those who give the gift of nexu through blood binding are known as a pelagus. This deal often comes with a contract of service from the pelagus.
All forms of nexu can have the potential to be enhanced in order to become stronger. It also can even evolve. Through training, a person can alter their magic in order for it to become something different. The family's nexu type can be changed as it is passed down through the generations. This allows the nexu to become something entirely different. As the power is passed down from generation to generation, the ability could transform from using earth magic to manipulating sand instead. Controlling water could lead to forming ice. Fire bending could turn into the ability to use lava at one's will.
Although an individual can be born with the potential to use nexu, a humanoid will not develop the ability to use it until he or she goes through puberty. Once he or she uses nexu, the young fae must learn to control it. The user must exercise caution when using nexu, as it might destroy them both physically and mentally. It could cause the being to lose all control of his or her sanity, or even cost the user their own life.
There are eight types of ability Users. The types are broken into eight classes. These classes are battle mage, elemental, enchanter, exorcist, magi, sage, warlock/witch, and wizard.
Those who use warrior type abilities are called battle mages. These abilities rely on offensive battle. This type of nexu is the most popular among humanoids who possess mana.
Elementals are those who use one of the seven natural elements of this world. However, elves and those who use shadow abilities go by different names. Any elf that can use elemental type magic is known as a Druid while all other races are called Elementals. Those who use shadow abilities are known as sorcerers.
Enchanters are those who enchant items and store abilities. Unfortunately, crystals are the only things that can be used for enchanting and storing abilities. This is due to the fact that crystals are the only thing that can hold nexu without shattering.
Exorcists are seen as inhuman. Most of the time, these types of abilities have to do with life, rebirth, and death. This type of nexu is forbidden in most countries.
Magi form groups and bind themselves to each other. This allows the group as a whole to increase the power of their nexu. This group is known as a covenant. Individuals who rely on a covenant are often weaker and possess little mana. Any type of ability can be strengthened through a covenant. However, once an ability user is part of a covenant, he or she will lose the individual title as a nexu user and will become a permanent member of the covenant he or she joined.
Sages are those who wield a very rare type of ability that is only passed down through family. This type of ability is based on this world's 12 animals of the Zodiac. The user is granted all traits of the animal. The individual can even shift their image or a single body part to that of the animal. The 12 users of this rare type of nexu are the ones who make up what is known as the Nexu Council.
Those who utilize what is known as summoning magic are known as warlocks and witches. These types of abilities involve summoning objects or animals. It can also involve manipulating reality. To use this type of nexu the user must have a vast amount of mana.
Wizards are those who do not possess the ability to use nexu. These individuals have to rely on things like ability crystals that can be placed into weapons or items. Most wizard are humans.
