9 Humanoid Classes
On the planet of Cysbro, mana flows like an ethereal current, harnessed only by those fortunate enough to carry the enigmatic Cystic Fibrosis (CF) gene. This genetic anomaly has the potential to bestow upon its carriers the extraordinary ability to wield raw and potent magic called nexu. However, only around half of Cysbro's diverse inhabitants are blessed with this mystical heritage, making them unique and powerful beings among their peers.
To unlock the mesmerizing potential of nexu, individuals with the CF gene must undergo a transformative process known as transgenesis. During this metamorphosis, their human bodies undergo a profound change, shaping them into the likeness of mythical beings. From the ethereal grace of the elves to the primal strength of the were-beasts, the forms taken are as varied as the imagination itself.
Once the metamorphosis is complete, those who were once considered human become the enigmatic and revered humanoid beings, more commonly known as fae. These fae, often referred to as those blessed by mana, stand apart from ordinary humans, graced with unearthly beauty, unique abilities, and an innate connection to the mystical energies of Cysbro. Throughout the ages, the term "fae" has become synonymous with any non-human being on the planet. They are revered and feared, their presence sparking awe and wonder among those who remain uninitiated into the secrets of abilities.
Fae offspring come into existence through a fascinating interplay of heritage. A child can be born as a fae if both parents belong to the same mythical race. Alternatively, if one parent is fae and the other is human, the child may inherit the potential to undergo transgenesis, setting them on the path to becoming a fae. Moreover, when two fae beings from different races come together, their child is born as a human, but with latent potential for transgenesis. This intriguing phenomenon ensures that the diversity of mythical beings remains vibrant and ever evolving across the ages.
Yet, as with any extraordinary gift, there is a delicate balance at play. If a child is born human from two fae parents or from two human parents, both carry the CF gene. This means that there is a chance that the individual may be afflicted with Cystic Fibrosis (CF). This rare and often challenging illness holds the potential to transform them into a hybrid of two races, an enigmatic and powerful entity whose existence is both coveted and feared.
Within the realm of Cysbro, there exist nine distinct races. The first and most familiar are humans, living side by side with the eight diverse fae kingdoms. These fae realms include the Animalians, who embody the spirits of animals; the graceful and ageless Elves; the enchanting and elusive Fairies; the wise and nature-bonded Garvines; the mystical and enigmatic Merfolk; the fierce and territorial Orcgainians; the serpentine and cunning Reptilians; and finally, the alluring yet dangerous Vampires, who thrive on the essence of life itself.
Each fae kingdom encompasses a unique array of beings, and within these kingdoms, fae are further classified based on their ability to transform between human form and their true, otherworldly shape. For instance, the Elves retain only their elegant elven forms, whereas many Animalians possess the remarkable ability to shift between their humanoid appearance and the formidable aspect of their animal spirit.
Beyond classification, the fae are intricately divided into diverse genera, known as subspecies. This provides insight into their specific lineage and characteristics. Among them, one might find a were-bear, embodying the primal might of the Animalians, or a siren, whose enchanting voice echoes the allure of the Merfolk. As the world of Cysbro continues to grow, so do the tales of history, mystery, and the profound connections shared between fae and humans. It is a realm where fantastical possibilities collide, weaving a tapestry of wonder and discovery that will never cease to captivate the hearts and imaginations of all who venture into its enchanting embrace.
